Safeguarding long-term soil fertility is one of the key challenges facing modern agriculture. An important component of this is the planned liming of fields to maintain the soil’s pH value within the optimal range. This improves soil structure and ensures the lasting availability of nutrients.
Agricultural lime – a sustainable part of the nutrient cycle
A pH value balanced with agricultural lime makes it easier for plants to absorb such essential elements as phosphorus and potassium – directly or indirectly, via more intensive rooting and a more stable soil structure. Liming is therefore an important measure for improving water infiltration, water retention capacity, and aeration. Good soil structure is particularly important in the face of increasing climatic challenges, such as heavy rainfall and extended dry spells.
Our carbonate lime is effective not only in arable farming, but also works well as a bedding component, for example in dairy farming.
