Sustainability is in the very DNA of Pfeifer & Langen. After all, we owe our existence to a natural product: the sugar beet, which is the root of our sustainability efforts and has formed the basis of our business operations for nearly 150 years.

SUSTAINABILITYBecause we are committed to nature.

Sugar beet is our raw material and is processed to almost 100 percent – right down to the water it contains. Not surprisingly, sustainability has a long tradition in our family business.

Sustainability, and with it the preservation and protection of natural resources, the promotion of efficient processing methods, and social responsibility are among our key corporate goals.

Sustainable sugar beet farming.

Our proprietary Agricultural Information Service (LIZ) was established over 25 years ago. It allows us to develop a comprehensive consulting concept with individual and personal advice on site.

Sustainable production.

Modern, environmentally friendly and resource-saving technologies, some of which we have developed ourselves, are used for sugar production and refining at our plants. Our research and development will continue to work towards further improving our processes and products in the future.

Sustainable usage.

During the production process, we can utilize almost all of the sugar beet and use it to market sugar, valuable straight feed, and molasses..

Sustainable mobility.

We also act sustainably when it comes to transporting and unloading sugar. Our own fleet exclusively transports our most important good: sugar. This ensures that there is no mixing with other foods, therefore guaranteeing quality. And if you wish, when our trucks arrive at your premises to unload the sugar, they can switch from diesel operation to electric discharge, making it the process both environmentally and food-friendly.

Since the success of Pfeifer & Langen is based not least on the performance and commitment of our workforce, we are also making sustained efforts here to ensure the best possible working environment and occupational health and safety conditions. In addition, all employees in our company are committed to interacting with one another in a respectful and friendly manner.

Pfeifer & Langen takes its responsibility for sustainability seriously. For one, because we want to set the tone for our economic and ecological future, and ensure our partners are satisfied. And, above all, because we are directly connected to the environment through our work and our products, and we bear a special responsibility for it.

QUALITYWhat quality work means for us.

Our benchmark is quality, and we certainly measure up. We meet the following German and European standards:

  • ISO/FSSC 22000 as food safety certifications for the processing industry
  • IFS Food 6 (International Featured Standards Food) for the food retail sector, which have also been reviewed in unannounced audits
  • QA (quality assurance) and GMP+ (combination of the fundamentals of Good Manufacturing Practice according to the principles of the HACCP concept) for the feed sector.

Our customer and certification audits are regularly and consistently concluded with positive results at all locations.
